Song Writing Competition

Win a $5,000 Scholarship With Your Songwriting Skills!

RRACE (Racial, Religious, Acceptance and Cultural Equality) is proud to sponsor the first RRACE competition to reward songwriters, 14 – 21 years of age, for songs composed around the subject of racial, religious, and/or cultural equality and acceptance. A $5000 scholarship will be awarded to the first place winner.

RRACE was established by Drs. Ekkehard and Sieglinde Othmer after hearing about the unimaginable and inexplicable tragedy that took place on April 13, 2014 at the Jewish Community Center of Greater Kansas City and the Village Shalom.  The Othmers believe we have an obligation to prevent such senseless acts of hate.  RRACE hopes to promote understanding and acceptance through the arts, starting with this songwriting competition.  The competition challenges young people to be open to all races, religions and cultures, and to embrace diversity.

“We must work together to bring about change.”  the Othmers said.

This competition is co- sponsored by Faith Always Wins, the LaManno Family, KC SuperStar, the Jewish Community Center of Greater Kansas City, Village Shalom, the Church of the Resurrection.
